Philip Humbert is a prodigious writer with a heart of gold. He's a coach and psychologist, and has been an active proponent of tele-class distance learning. I participated in several of his courses, and became confident enough from participating in his web site design class that I ultimately built this site. You can get a bunch of freebies and a weekly newsletter (The Innovative Professional) through his site. www.philiphumbert.com

Coach Training and Support

The International Coach Federation

The ICF, as a professional organization, is not affiliated with any specific coaching school. It has developed criteria and standards for certification, which apply across training philosophies and methods.

If you are looking for more options in finding a coach, you might try the ICF Coach Referral Service located at their web site or by phone, if needed.

The ICF holds annual conventions, the most recent, in Chicago. Next year's event will be in Atlanta. If you're a coach, or thinking of becoming one, meet and join the growing worldwide community of coaches.

The Coaches Training Institute

One of the two biggest coach training organizations. They offer a series of four in-person workshops and a 6-month telecourse leading to certification in their "Co-Active Coaching" model. They also have a superb one-year leadership program, independent of their coach training. In comparison to Coach U, see below, I believe CTI's model is more client-driven, and their focus is much more on developing skills to enhance the process (as compared to the content) of coaching. I love what they do. Find them in San Rafael, California at 800-691-6008, or on the web at www.thecoaches.com

Coach University

Coach U is the other large training organization. It does its training entirely by telecourses. The program provides a great deal of information and structure to the coach for use with clients. They have also more recently unveiled their Corporate Coach U program for those interested in working in the fast-growing (and much needed) corporate coaching area.
