Just One Minute!

The mind of an adult is like an unbroken horse. It will go in any direction except the one in which you want it to go.

Dear Reader,

It's been half a year since the Reiter Coaching Letter was last published. My plan is to publish on a less regular basis, but with greater flexibility of format. I hope you continue to enjoy it, and find it both valuable and compelling. As always, I appreciate your responses and suggestions.

March Coaching Special - The 3-Month Makeover - Only $199/month
Have you been sitting on something for way too long? An idea? A project? A change? A goal?  It's only a dream now. What would it be worth to you to be well on your way to accomplishing it?

If it's important enough for you to make it happen (No Kidding!), then perhaps a 3-Month Makeover is the answer. Here's the simple layout:

  • Month 1 - Investigate, Incubate, and Clarify  (1 hour session, 3 half-hour sessions)
  • Month 2 - Action and Manifestation  (4 weekly half-hour sessions)
  • Month 3 - Refine and Solidify  (4 weekly half-hour sessions)

If this sounds like it might be for you, send me an e-mail (Click here right now, before you forget yet again what's so darned important!). Let's discover if this is the answer.

But hurry! I have room for only 3 "Makeover" clients this month, and the special pricing (normally $325/month) ends March 31st!   And hey! If you're not planning to use this offer, please pass this along to someone you know who might be interested.

Feature: JUST ONE MINUTE!

Part A - read all the points (down to "OK, start") before beginning
  • Get in front of a clock or watch with a second indicator.
  • When the minute second hand comes to the top, close your eyes.
  • Without counting, noting heartbeats, or estimating, keep your eyes closed until it feels like one minute has passed.
  • Open your eyes and look at the clock
  • OK, start.

Noticing:

  • Did you open your eyes before, after, or approximately the right time?
  • What does this say to you about your experience of time?
  • What other learning is there for you from this experience?

Part B: Stop! Just a moment!

Read this paragraph completely, then do what it says
Your intention is to stop doing for just one minute. These are the guidelines:

  • Remain seated, eyes open or closed, feet on the floor, legs uncrossed.
  • Time a minute (you can watch the clock, if you wish).
  • Do nothing for the minute, other than observe your breathing.

Start Now. When you're finished, move on to the next paragraph.

The Next Paragraph

  • What did you notice?
  • What thoughts flitted through your head?
  • Did you forget what you were doing even before the minute was up?
  • How comfortable were you during this time?

And the next paragraph

  • What learning is there for you about how you relate to time?
  • What learning is there for you about how you relate to doing?
  • What learning is there for you about how you relate to "being quiet?"
  • What benefit might you get from finding "quiet" in your day on a regular basis?
  • What will you do differently this week as a consequence of these experiences?

Comment
This is important stuff. If you didn't have time to do this now, please set a reminder to do it soon.

If you wish to share your thoughts or have a question, give me a jingle.  I'd love to hear from you.

To your success -

  Steve
