About Steve Reiter
The majority of my formal coach training has been with the Coaches Training Institute (CTI) of San Rafael, California.
In February 1998, I earned the title of Certified Professional Co-Active Coach. I have since been certified by
the national coaching organization, the International Coach Federation (ICF), as a Professional Certified Coach
(PCC).
Prior to discovering coaching, I was a psychologist at a public psychiatric center in Syracuse, NY, where I worked
with severely impaired individuals. My 23 years there were split between direct patient care and neuropsychological
evaluations. As I started training in coaching, I brought my new skills and focus into my work with these same
individuals and observed exciting changes.
Since then, I have had the good fortune to see many examples of the power of coaching in people's lives. What an
opportunity! I get to be a support to some great people and watch them "take off," creating the lives
they want, learning...blossoming!
I believe in the coaching model and am committed to the profession. Since the beginning of my coaching career,
I have been involved in the organizational activities of the national professional coaching organizations. I was
a contributing editor for the newsletter of the Professional and Personal Coaches Association (which folded into
the ICF). And I have been a longstanding member of the ICF committee attempting to define the nature and boundaries
of coaching and have participated in a volunteer role at the annual conventions.
Like all of us, I bring my entire life experience into my coaching.
Some personal data: I live in Syracuse, NY, USA. I am married and have two children who are 21 and 8 years old.
